Where Is Shiney Ahuja? Actor Accused Of Allegedly Raping His Domestic Help Now Stays In THIS Country

Shiney Ahuja's Bollywood career took a nosedive in 2009 when he was hit with shocking allegations of raping his 19-year-old domestic help.

Shiney Ahuja, once a prominent figure in Bollywood, rose to fame with performances in films such as Gangster (2006), Life in a… Metro (2007), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), and Woh Lamhe (2006). Despite a promising start and fan following in the early 2000s, his life took a dramatic and tragic turn following a legal controversy that not only derailed his thriving career but also led to his retreat from the public eye.

Shiney Ahuja’s life and career took a nosedive in 2009 when he was hit with shocking allegations of raping his 19-year-old domestic help. The scandal sent ripples through Bollywood and the nation, leading to a sensational trial that had everyone talking. In 2011, a Mumbai court handed down a seven-year prison sentence, despite Shiney’s repeated claims of innocence and the controversy surrounding the case, including the victim’s retracted statement. In the bargain, Shiney’s once-promising career was left in tatters, never to recover.

The case was the nail in the coffin for Shiney’s Bollywood career. The industry, always quick to distance itself from controversy, turned its back on him. His future in films crumbled as no filmmaker wanted to work with him, and his reputation took a nosedive that he just couldn’t recover from. As per reports, Shiney has been lying low in the Philippines, far from the glare of the spotlight.

In June 2009, Shiney was arrested and held at Arthur Road Jail while awaiting trial. He was granted bail on October 2, 2009. In 2019, Shiney’s maid retracted her statements and medical reports in court, with the judge suspecting that she had been pressured into changing her testimony. Despite this, in 2011, Shiney was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. He later appealed to the High Court and was granted interim bail.

Shiney Ahuja was last seen in Welcome Back in 2015. The cast of the film promoted the movie without Shiney and director Anees Bazmee claimed that the actor was not in India when the promotions for the film kicked off.
